I Didn’t Know Love Pains

I didn’t know love pains
Until I said “YES” to you
I thought the path would be full of joy
But love led me to weeping hearts
To beds where silence sighs
To children lost, to broken homes.
To truths behind lies.

I didn’t know love pains
Until I touched the abandoned
Their wounds became part of me
Their grief steal sleep from my eyes
You asked me for everything
And in the giving I am finding tears
And in the pains I have met you lord
In the faces lined with grace and hope
In the whispered prayers, in dying breath
I have seen your hidden face

I didn’t know love pains
But I know it’s true
Real love will break, build again and it leads to you Lord.
