Mary Peters of Mountrath, Laois, entered MMM on 2 January 1941. After her novitiate, she did her general nurse training in St. Vincent’s Hospital in Dublin and Part I of her midwifery training in Drogheda.

In 1947 she was assigned to Nigeria – to Ogoja Province – and made her final profession in Anua in 1949. Over the years, she worked in Obudu, Afikpo, Nkalagu, Ndubia and finally in Ikom.  She spent 1959 to 1960 in Drogheda,  when she completed her midwifery training. She was also there from1965 to 1966 during a period of ill health.

She is remembered as being a very dedicated nurse with a great team spirit.

Sr. Canice died at St. Luke’s Hospital, Anua, but was interred at Afikpo.
