Sr. Anne was born in Castleisland, Co. Kerry in 1924. She came from a family of ten. All pre-deceased her except her sister Margery.

Anne joined the Medical Missionaries of Mary in 1943. After profession she trained first as a radiographer in UCD and Jervis Street Hospital. She then qualified as a midwife in Drogheda.

Her first missionary assignment was to Nigeria. Beginning in 1952, she spent four years between Urua Akpan and Anua as a midwifery tutor. She then was radiographer-in-charge and pharmacy assistant in Anua for four years. In 1960 Anne was assigned to Tanzania, where she spent two years in Makiungu as a midwifery tutor. She returned to Ireland in 1962 and was radiographer in charge in the IMTH in Drogheda for four years. After two more years in Makiungu, she completed training as a midwifery tutor at the University of Sheffield. She did another tour in Makiungu from 1970 to 1971 and then qualified as a state registered nurse at Providence Hospital and Whiston General Hospital in England.

Sister Anne now went to Nairobi, Kenya and was a midwifery tutor at Mater Misericordiae Hospital for two years. In 1974 she returned to Nigeria, where she served for six years in Anua as a midwifery tutor and then principal of the school of midwifery. She later helped in the pharmacy at Abakaliki and in the school of midwifery in Afikpo.

Anne returned to Ireland in 1983 and was a midwifery tutor at the Rotunda Hospital in Dublin for eight years. She also helped to care for the sick in the MMM infirmary in Drogheda. In 1991, she trained in reflexology. After a short assignment teaching midwifery in Drogheda, in 1993 she began home visits to the sick and elderly in the town, providing nursing and pastoral care, reflexology and massage for thirteen years, doing whatever she could to make their lives more comfortable. On Daffodil Day she collected money for treatment of those with cancer. She received an award from the people of Drogheda that recognized the contribution she made. Anne was very outgoing and full of energy and enthusiasm. She was flexible and ready to go where she was most needed.

In 2006, Sister Anne moved to the Motherhouse, where she continued home visits and helped in the MMM community in Beechgrove. She transferred to Áras Mhuire in November 2011 for ongoing nursing care. She died there peacefully on 8 November 2016.

Anne settled in well in Áras Mhuire.  The staff described her as a lady with a great sense of humour.  She was very neat and organized.  While she loved a sing-song, a good laugh and a bit of chocolate, Kerry and her family were her big loves.
