“Winnie”, as most people knew her, was formerly Mary J. from Monaghan. In her early adult years she worked with the American Forces in Germany and the USA. She entered MMM in Drogheda in January 1955. Because of her maturity and experience, she spent much of her time as a postulant and novice working in Mother Mary’s office, as this was a very busy time with fund-raising for the new hospital.

She was a very dedicated and thorough worker, always ready to help out or supply a need. She is remembered as a charming and elegant lady.

She was assigned back to the USA after first profession. She worked there as bursar in both Winchester, MA and Weston, MA.

In 1978 she was appointed regional business administrator. She returned to Ireland on a visit but had to stay because she was too ill to return to the USA. She was to bear her illness with great fortitude and resignation.

Sister Winnie died and is buried in Drogheda.
