Angela was living in Limerick when she entered MMM in October 1954. She was already 50 years old and had lived a very interesting, though disciplined, life having had long experience in the British Army Corps. She had much to contribute to life in MMM.
Her first mission assignment was to Ethiopia, where she formed part of the MMM staff in the inter-nunciature in Addis Ababa. She later moved to ministry in the more rural parts of Ethiopia. She took part in the opening of Clinica Metcha, where she worked for two years before returning to the delegation for a further three years.
On her return to Europe in 1969 she was assigned to the apostolic delegation in London. Later she was assigned to Drogheda where she nursed Mother Mary for a time, and then spent several years looking after the Sisters’ refectory.
She had a very practical turn of mind and dealt with all emergencies with competence and efficiency. She was also noted for her great sense of humour.
She is remembered as an energetic and courageous person, reminding us of the ‘few’ in ‘The Charge of the Light Brigade’. She was nothing daunted, a real provider!
In 1994 she was one of the founding Sisters to move to Áras Mhuire .
She died in 1995 and is buried in Drogheda.
